Job Description

We are looking for a Technical assistant that is passionate about healthcare services with a strong flare for research and process documentation. The successful candidate will work with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a government owned medical services parastatal in Edo state.   

Position Description

  1. The Technical Assistant to the CEO provides support and assistance to the MD/CEO on strategic and technical matters as well as provides high quality secretarial and administrative support including but not limited to developing approval memos, power point presentations etc.
  2. He/She is to maintain an up-to-date consolidated management overview of projects and/or contracts performance.
  3. The CEO’s Technical Assistant is responsible for following through on Matters Arising from Board Meetings as well as coordinate as required to ensure that the MD/CEO’s office materials, and inputs for board meetings, external presentations etc. are adequately available.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Provide input to technical studies/research projects, technical reports, project planning reports, etc. to be presented to the CEO.
  2. Attend meetings with the CEO, responding to technical inquiries as appropriate; present technical knowledge and information on projects and services and provide answers when required.
  3. Evaluate, review, and interpret technical inquiries on contractors/vendors, and be able to provide recommendation to the CEO on both existing and potential contractors/vendors.
  4. Track projects and the decision-making process for projects that require board and top-level committee approvals (e.g. board committees) and ensure that the relevant information for the committee to make an informed decision is readily available.
  5. Aid the CEO in the development, coordination, and implementation of strategic plans for the agency.
  6. Prepare dashboard for the entire business representing the organizational progress of the company with regards to each department’s ongoing respective projects, highlighting the positives and negatives and reporting performance to the CEO on timely basis.
  7. Attend and contribute to meetings on behalf of CEO, reporting back and follow up if required.
  8. Ensures proper and timely follow-up on reports from units, departments, and divisions.
  9. Research for, and preparation of speeches and presentations in a variety of formats to support the activities of the CEO.
  10. Develop and maintains technical databases and spreadsheets.
  11. Maintain effective and comprehensive electronic & paper filing systems to ensure efficient flow of correspondence and documentation.
  12. Local/international travel as required by the CEO.

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. 4+ years’ experience in a planning or consulting role.
  2. Experience publishing a high quality research materials.
  3. Bachelors degree in sciences, or equivalent (medical related sciences would be an added advantage).
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to manage multiple deadlines while organizing and prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
