Job Summary

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support the company’s finance team. The senior accountant will carry out the preparation, compilation, measurement and disclosure of accounting information that will allow the organization make resource allocation decisions while supporting the Financial Controller by ensuring accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Planning: Develop and implement long-term financial strategies in alignment with the company's objectives. Forecast financial trends and analyze implications to advise senior management on potential risks and opportunities.

Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support key business decisions. Evaluate financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to optimize profitability and efficiency.

Prepare financial reports - Administer preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management reports as well as interim, year-end and comparative financial reports. Perform and provide analysis of current results to prior periods and budget. Prepare required government and regulatory reports as directed by the controller and responds to inquiries as necessary.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with various departments to establish financial targets. Continuously monitor and update forecasts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives.

Administer payroll - Take responsibility for review and preparation of payroll records and processing of payroll checks and reports. Comply with all statutory deductions and remittances to appropriate authorities.

Maintain fixed asset records and control - Determine depreciation terms/rates to apply to capitalized items; prepare property tax returns for review by Controller. Carry out periodic asset verification exercise.

Business Partnership: Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, and marketing to provide financial insights and support. Partner with stakeholders to drive profitability and operational efficiency.

Reporting and Presentations: Prepare comprehensive financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior leadership. Communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision-making.

Support the CFO - Assist the CFO in coordination of year-end audit and preparation of schedules and documents for external auditors and auditors from regulatory agencies including but not limited to FIRS, ITF, CBN etc. Carry out data analysis and pricing calculations. Assists the Controller in training and management of accounting staff.

Risk Management: Assess and mitigate financial risks by developing risk management frameworks. Implement strategies to safeguard company assets and optimize capital structure.

Perform other duties from time to time including but not limited to maintaining other accounts and performing other accounting duties as required or as requested by the Financial Controller.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A first degree in Accounting or Social Sciences

Minimum of 10 years of working experience 5 of which must have been in management

Must be professionally Certified (ACA or ACCA or ICAN)

Proven experience (5 years) in strategic financial planning, analysis, and management within the Financial Sector.

Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data and draw actionable insights.

Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting software/tools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Leadership qualities with a track record of driving change and implementing innovative financial strategies.
